  5. What kind of animals are affected from water pollution but not from areas that are too dry but from areas that are flooding?

    1. We cant really tell what kinds of animals are affected by water pollution in flooded areas because, depending on the area the flood took place in is what affects what different kinds of animals that are affected. This is because if a swamp floods less animals will be affected because there use to being in lots of water, but if a dry area floods then the animals wont know what to do in deep water and they could die.

  6. I think that the water saving toilet is a good way to save water and help in the water crisis, because the average person flushes the toilet 6 to 8 times a day which is a lot of water used by one person.

  7. I see how important the Aswan Dam and Nile River is to Egypt, in the slideshow it said that 90% of the electricity in Egypt come from the Aswan Dam, I was wondering what the other 10% of electricity is produced by?

  9. What other things do you think effect water scarcity, other than pollution?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Agriculture is another thing that effects water scarcity, a lot of countries grow a lot of crops and that takes a lot water.

  10. How do you think we can stop/decrease the amount of pollution that happens currently?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think water pollution will stop completely, but there are small things we can do that will make a difference. For example: disposing of toxic chemicals properly. When you flush pills or medication (etc..) down the toilet, the chemicals in them can be harmful to waterways when they are not disposed of properly. Instead, we could get rid of them in a local disposal facility.

    3. I totally agree with you, I think that pollution will never end. I would also like to bounce of what you said and say that pollution can be decreased if everyone decided to help but I think that that will never happen because many people are not aware of how much pollution that one piece of garbage is causing , or what dumping those chemicals in the oceans are doing...
These are some examples of what you can do to decrease pollution:
•Share a ride or engage in car pooling.
•Instead of using your cars, choose to walk or ride a bicycle whenever possible.
•Use eco-friendly or biodegradable materials instead of plastic which are made up of highly toxic substances which can be harmful you and the environment
•Have a proper waste disposal system (etc.)

  11. Bill Gates ( Creator Of Microsoft ) recently created this machine called the OMNI processor. The device's purpose is to take dirty water and turn it into clean filtered water. What are your thought of his invention? Do you think the checmicals in this invention are safe or not?

    1. I think it is great that we are coming up with new ways to re use our water but I have a few questions. How expensive will the machine be, and will it run on electricity? If so, I don't think the people living in countries with low water sources could afford it or even have access to a power outlet.

    2. I agree with the cost part. Even if it is donated to the countries with the crisis, there is still a big cost to getting it to the countries.

      Delete
    3. I think that this is a great idea, I hope that this is affordable to areas that need these processors. If not it would be nice if charity or groups of people could donate and buy these processors for those in need

  12. There are many beneficial ways of preventing water shortages. I am also wondering how people with low income have more children. In your powtoon, it was mentioned that the birthrates are increasing to approximately 220 000 births per day. There were many affects listed such as the shortage of resources, war and social conflict, limits on personal freedom, overcrowding, and health/ survival of other species. Is there anything being done to improve these situations?

    1. In some countries, having a lot of children is part of their culture, and so is getting married at a young age. I think those people are more worried about following their traditions before low income.

      Delete
    2. I also think that they have a lot children because of there beliefs, since they believe that God will give food to everyone and larger families have a source of power.

  13. Atmospheric deposition is air pollution. This is caused when a toxic substance is formed, which then falls to the ground as snow or rain. This causes the water to become contaminated. This process is caused due to the quality of the air. Is there something to increase the air quality and manage to stop this event from occurring?

  14. Do you think it's actually possible to stop the water scarcity? Even though we have fund raisers and new technology. Most people are aware of it but just aren't taking action.

    1. I think if we were to stop water scarcity, it would be in a very long time. It takes a while for a topic to become widely known when not everyone on earth lives with this problem. But, I think the current fundraising and new technology is making a difference.

    2. I agree with you, I think that if everyone knew and cared we could stop water scarcity because we have so much technology and power that we could help make a difference.

  15. Are you apart of any fund raisers or organizations to help put an end to the water scarcity?

  16. Do you think that if everyone stopped wasting water and taking advantage of it, there could be a chance of the water being decided amongst the people which will end water scarcity? If so how will we get everyone to contribute and help with the cause?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's easy to think that we could just stop wasting water. But the water isn't divided equally, we have to pay for it, and the people that cant afford to pay for it don't get any for free because it wouldn't be fair to other people who pay for their own water. Not to mention there would need to be plumbing installed and there is too many people, and too much money involved to completely solve the water crisis. I do have a question though: If we cut down our water usage, it still wouldn't go to the people that don't have water... so what are the benefits besides reducing our water bills?

  17. What is the estimated amount of deaths caused by water borne diseases through the year of 2016 ?
How can we lower this number of deaths?
what can we do to help?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is estimated that over 840,000 die each year from a water-related disease, but I think this number might decrease a little due to the new technology people are making, fundraisers, and the fact that people are raising awareness.

  19. In the slideshare from Egypt I noticed that it said water filters are only provided to some people, it also said that the inequality of clean water should be addressed. I agree to this because everyone deserves clean water. Is there any fundraisers to provide filters or help with the problem?

  20. How can we bring awareness to the diseases that are in polluted water?

    1. We can educate others through slideshows, presentations and other forms of media. Information is powerful and education is the first step

    1. Well did you know that less than one percent of the earths water is available to us to drink and we also waste a lot the water as well for example a 10-15 minute shower uses around 40 litters.
